Extraction methods Moka

Easy to use and typically Italian, the moka is one of the best known and most widely used ways of preparing coffee at home.

In the coffee maker, water goes through the coffee from the bottom to the top because of the 1 atm of pressure from the steam that builds up in the boiler.

The result is a coffee with medium body and an intense aroma.

So, how do you prepare the perfect moka?

So, how do you prepare the perfect moka?

What you need:

  • Moka
  • 5-7g Costadoro coffee for every 40-50 ml of water in the boiler
  • scales

Preparation time: 1-2 minutes depending on the size of the coffee maker and the material it’s made from.

After checking that all the parts of the coffee maker are clean, fill the boiler with hot water but do not cover the valve to avoid problems if excess pressure needs to be released.

  • Fill the filter but don’t press the coffee, rather level off the coffee evenly by lightly tapping the filter or the base of the boiler on your work surface. This will help the water flow through the coffee and avoid it being burned.
  • Carefully screw the two parts of the moka together.
  • Place the coffee maker over medium heat and, once all the coffee has come up, remove the coffee maker from the heat and leave the lid closed.
  • Stir the coffee slowly inside the coffee maker to achieve a uniform density.

Enjoy your Costadoro coffee!
